IL-2 release 2.006 release imminent

IL-2’s Producer, Jason Williams, took to the forums this eveningtook to the forums this evening to talk about the upcoming 2.006 release. The team is working hard to make the update happen around December 15 if all goes well, however, the road may be a slightly bumpy one.

Jason wrote:

This particular update has been a very tough one for our small team. It includes several big ticket features and content. We’re talking about DirectX 11, Scripted Campaign, Ju-52 and Bf-109 G-4 plus lots of other small enhancements and new technology like German Paratroopers to support all this wonderful new stuff. We had planned to release it on the 15th, but it may get pushed back a few days. Regardless, please understand that THERE WILL BE BUGS in this release.

This kind of transparency is the kind that the community has desired and Jason has been providing.

The update itself is packed full of features. A new campaign (Ten Days of Autumn), the Ju-52, and the first of the IL-2: Battle of Kuban content with the Bf109G-4. Oh…. and an entirely updated engine with the DirectX 11 engine upgrade. New content and an upgraded engine bringing the sim closer to full VR support and better performance means that there are lots of potential bugs to iron out.

As Jason has said, in large, bold letters, there will be some bugs to iron out with this release. So get your downloaders ready for sometime on December 15 or just after and we’ll see what the new release brings. Let the devs know about bugs in a calm and courteous manner. They are working pretty hard to make this happen!

Update (December 14, 2016 at 1:13pm ET): Jason has confirmed that additional bugs need to be worked out and the patch is now scheduled for December 19 release date. Stay tuned!

maybe a mistake in title, latest release is 2.006, not 1.006
